How To Store Paintballs Properly For Long Time

November 30, 2021 by admin 1 Comment

Are you looking for how to store paintballs properly? Do you need a guide to keep your paintballs in different environmental conditions?

Yes! You are on the right page.

Many people think that paintballs are long-lasting, but they are not because they are spherical capsules no bigger than a dime made of gelatin and steadily break down over time. Due to the nature of the materials used to make them they will expire if not stored with care.

If you store your paintballs, then they will deliver a high-quality performance during your match between competitions. In this article, we provide a guide to help store paintballs. Scroll down and Continue reading to learn how to extend the shelf life of paintballs, & the easiest way to store paintballs for a longer time.

Storing Your Paintballs

Paintballs do cost money and, unfortunately, they are short-lived. You will waste your money if you do not take care of them properly, so learn how to store your paintballs as long as possible without worrying about wasting money or balls.

Whenever storing paintballs, many brands of paintballs provide the manufacturer’s lifespan, which you should follow and keep paintballs in a dry, cool place and rotate them occasionally depending on the quality and price you have bought them.

You know that the average lifespan of paintballs is 3-6 months, but they will last up to longer or a year if you store them properly based on shell thickness. There are some steps that you follow to extend the shelf life of your paintball. These are very important points for keeping your paintballs safe as there is nothing terrible than having a small ball break in your loader or barrel.

How to Store Paintballs for Long-time

To understand how to properly store paintballs for a long time, you first need to learn the composition and how those ingredients(gelatin or glycerin) react with the environment. A lot of changes can take place when these two components are exposed to extreme weather conditions.

The core of paintball storage is to prevent extreme temperature conditions and humidity from deforming over time because the paintball becomes soft and sticky. Any type of distortion on your paintballs makes them useless to use.

At Cold Temperatures

paintballs are very brittle and break in the carton marker’s loader, hopper, or barrel. You need to find a sealed bag to store your paintballs so they do not dry out. They start to decrease in size even when they freeze, so you also want to change the size of your barrel to prevent the pellets from contracting. If you see dimples it’s the biggest sign that your paintball pellets have frozen. There is a perfect chance they will create a huge mess when they break into your barrel.

You know that Winter paintballs are made with a dense shell that is perfect for cold-temperature play.

At A Hot Or Humid Temperature

In hot and humid conditions the paintball shells can eventually change shape and absorb water looking bigger than normal size. If you do not want to be constantly cleaning the internals of your marker, loader, or barrel, you may need to keep your paintballs from being exposed to temperatures of 15° – 30°F or lower.

Here we explain some weather conditions to store paintballs for longevity.

Normal conditions for paintballs:

  • Not exposed to UV lights
  • Stored them in an airtight container
  • 40% – 50% maximum humidity
  • The temperature range in between 60° – 85°F

store them in your closet, under your bed, or anywhere else they can be kept under the optimal conditions. After opening a bag, if you are worried about paintballs being shown to the air, then you may need to put some of your earned money to consider an airtight box because it is useful in almost completely blocking out humidity and oxygen from reaching your paintballs and extending their life span as long as possible.

How to Store Paintballs During a Game

Here is a guide on how you may also store your paintballs during a day of play.

You must avoid exposing your paintballs outside on the table in the heat If the weather is hot outside (up to 85°F) because it is not the best idea to expose your paintballs out in the heat all day.

So, what do you do?

If you want to keep your paintballs in great condition then you need to turn your AC on as much as possible during the day to keep the temperature from exceeding 85°F.

Turn Paintballs Every Weak for a while

Turn the balls over to the other sides every week. The reason behind this is to make sure the paint does not just sit in one area. Moving the paintballs will also prevent the paint from hardening and easily store for up to 6 months.
